Physiotherapy
Sessions are delivered under the scope of physiotherapy including thorough
assessment and treatment that may involve education surrounding pain,
injury, and coping strategies; acupuncture; auricular therapy; graded
motor imagery; manual therapy; active relaxation; and movement. One
of my main aims is to allow sufficient time for you to tell your story.
Often the longer you've had a pain problem the more there is for you
to tell and for me to understand.
I feel it is important to create an environment where you and your clinician
are working together in guiding treatment and further sessions. I am
able to make contact with your Doctors or other therapists as appropriate
and to work alongside them in your treatment. Once you have had your
initial face-to-face assessment, telephone, skype and/or email support
can be given as appropriate.
When you make contact, I will ask for some details which should give
an indication as to the likely time needed for the initial assessment.
I have a particular interest in preventing and treating persistent pain
conditions predominantly affecting the musculoskeletal system and optimising
performance and wellbeing. Examples of conditions treated include neck
or back pain; sciatica; joint pain such as arthritis; pain relating
to minor nerve injury such as carpal tunnel syndrome; complex regional
pain syndrome (CRPS); pain following fracture; hypermobility and Ehlers
Danlos Syndrome III; fibromyalgia and fatigue conditions.
