Therapists Fumiyo Egashira Esalen® Bodywork is a full body massage with oil. The name comes from a community/retreat centre, Esalen Institute in California. It is a place dedicated to exploration of human potential. Over the years, various bodywork techniques, meditation and movement practices from across the globe came together and evolved into a healing art we now call Esalen® Bodywork. Although each practitioner has unique style and qualities, there is a distinctive wave-like flow in every Esalen® Bodywork that encompasses the whole body. Long strokes, deep tissue technique and passive stretches are used to invite the body to open, unfold and find the stillness within. It's not about fixing, but it's about holding a space for the receiver - dropping into the body, feeling all that is available, reclaiming and empowering the whole of who/what they are at this very moment. It is a container for re-membering the body, re-connecting with your truest way of being. Fumiyo is a certified Esalen® Bodywork practitioner, originally qualified in Holistic Massage, Reflexology and Indian Head Massage in 2002. Having discovered her home away from home, Esalen Institute in 2006, she has rekindled her passion for bodywork as a gateway to deeper understanding and healing of oneself, as a practitioner, as well as a receiver.
